Marco Antonio Boschetti was born in Aruba (Netherland Antilles) on May 9, 1970. He received the MSc degree in Computer Science with top honours from the University of Bologna, Italy, in 1993.

From 1994 to 1999 he was a PhD student in Operational Research at the Management School, Imperial College, London, under the supervision of Eleni Hadjiconstantinou. From 1995 to 1997 he worked as "research student" for the Imperial College research unit, directed by Prof. Nicos Christofides, in the BRITE-EURAM project "Integrated System for Automated Leather Cutting". In 1999 he received the PhD degree in Operational Research from the University of London and the Diploma of the Imperial College (DIC).

In 1997 he was a co-founder of Nemsys s.r.l. a spin-off company specialised in optimization software for logistics.

From 1999 to 2001 he participated as "Research Associate" to the research group of the Centre for Quantitative Finance of the Imperial College, directed by Prof. Nicos Christofides, to develop new mathematical methodologies and algorithms for solving risk and portfolio management problems.

From 2002 to 2016 Marco Antonio Boschetti was a researcher at the Department of Mathematics, University of Bologna.

In 2006 Marco Antonio Boschetti and prof. Vittorio Maniezzo had coined the term "Matheuristics" and organized the first two events of the Matheuristics workshop series (Matheuristics 2006 and Matheuristics 2008).

In 2010 he was a co-founder of Keisna s.r.l. a spin-off specialised in optimization software.

From 2007 to 2012 he was Researcher representative in the board of the "Polo Scientifico-Didattico di Cesena" (Campus of University of Bologna).

At the beginning of 2012 Marco Antonio Boschetti joined the Center for Industrial Research on Information and Communication Technologies (CIRI ICT) of the University of Bologna. The CIRI ICT promotes sustainable innovation within industries and small/medium enterprises by means of technological support, knowledge transfer and business development.

In 2014 he obtained the National Scientific Qualification as Associate and Full Professor for Mathematical Methods of Economics, Finance and Actuarial Sciences (SECS-S/06 - 13/D4).

Since 2016 Marco Antonio Boschetti is an associate professor at the Department of Mathematics, University of Bologna.

In 2017 he obtained the National Scientific Qualification as Full Professor for Operational Research (MAT/09 - 01/A6).

His research activity is mainly focused on the development of quantitative methods for management science and finance. In particular, he works on exact and heuristic solution methods based on mathematical programming and combinatorial optimization approaches. The problems considered are both well-known basic models (e.g., set partitioning and covering, bin packing, etc.) and real-world applications (e.g., crew and vehicle scheduling, packing and cutting, etc.). The research activity has always followed an interdisciplinary approach among the areas of mathematics, economics and computer science.

Marco Antonio Boschetti has been involved in several projects funded by CNR, MURST, MIUR, public and private companies (ABB, Adecco, Azienda USL Cesena, Comune di Cesena, Consorzio Nazionale Rilegno, Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Cesena, Provincia Forli-Cesena, Ser.In.Ar., XTEL, etc.).

He has published a number of papers in international and national journals and books, he has given a number of talks at international and national conferences, he has been referee for a number of international journals and he has been in the organising committee of some international and national conferences.
